First, your students make their model of a fetal pig out of the colourful parts. They build the pig and then add the organs to the model.
The model can be used look at the anatomy of the major body systems. It covers the nervous system (brain & spinal cord), circulatory system (heart and major blood vessels), respiratory system (lungs and trachea), digestive system (mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, spiral colon, rectum, pancreas, liver, gallbladder), excretory system (kidneys and bladder) and male & female reproductive systems.
The model also shows how a fetal pig differs from an adult animal covering the fetal circulation and umbilical cord.
They can then carry out a dissection to see how the parts fit together. It can be used to look at different organ systems and for comparative anatomy.
It can be printed in colour, or in mono on coloured or white paper.
Includes full colour Powerpoint class presentation!
Takes about 60 minutes to make the model but can be carried out over a series of sessions.
