Model all 20 amino acids!
Amino acids are the basic units of proteins that are essential for life. Their sequence in proteins is encoded by the genetic code of DNA.

They have two functional groups - carboxylic acid and an amino group. Each amino acid also has a unique side chain (or R group). Amino acids are easy to understand with our unique molecular models that shows how electrons behave during bond formation.
Your students first build their easy to make paper models of atoms and electrons. They use these to form organic molecules by sharing electrons between the atoms. The differently coloured electrons make it easy to see how the bonds are formed.
The models can then be used to show the structure of the 20 naturally occurring amino acids, their physical properties and the formation of peptide bonds. Clear instructions are provided in the powerpoint presentation.
