Use our innovative model to teach water uptake by the roots and into the xylem.
Your students make the specialised plant cells then use them to make a root. They can then follow how water is taken up by root hair cells and transported through the cell wall (apoplastic) or the cytoplasmic (symplastic) routes into the xylem. Students move model water molecules to visualise the alternative pathways. A great way to revise this topic.
