Teach the neuromuscular junction in an novel way!
The neuromuscular junction (or synapse) is where a motor neurone meets a muscle fibre. Your students will make this model and follow what happens when an action potential reaches the presynaptic membrane. Your students will move ions through the channels for themselves to see what happens.
Topics covered include structure of a neuromuscular junction, neurotransmitters, T tubules and sarcoplasmic reticulum.
You can also show how it triggers muscle contraction by linking it to our Muscle Shuffle model.
